Recent Grants
When our donors give unrestricted gifts, they allow the Foundation's trustees to determine how their gifts can best serve the community from year to year as needs and programs change. The earnings from these gifts are distributed through our Discretionary Grants Program. This program allowed us to award more than $61,000 during our most recent grant cycle: Posey County Chapter, American Red Cross $1,300 to purchase Professional Rescuer and AED training equipment. Zion Lippe United Church of Christ $3,750 to fund fifteen (15) producer partners in the "Partners in Food" program to provide resources for local entities to provide food assistance for local needs. At The Cross Mission $3,663 to purchase one freezer to store food which feeds the hungry. Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra $1,000 to partially fund the admission for Posey County children and their chaperones to attend 2011 Youth Concerts. Posey County Steps Ahead Council, Inc. $1,500 to purchase 100 gift cards from local grocery stores and gas stations to help families in an emmediate crisis. God's Storehouse Food Pantry $5,954 to purchase one commercial freezer and one commercial refrigerator to store food that feeds the hungry. Posey County Council on Aging $9,800 to match requested funds to purchase a wheel chair, 12-passenger van. Junior Achievement of Southwestern Indiana $2,750 to retain eleven Junior Achievement classes beging taught at the North Posey Junior High School. New Harmony Ministerial Association $2,000 to provide milk vouchers at the food pantry in New Harmony. Tales and Scales, Inc. $3,500 to provide residency preparation, performance and workshops for Tales and Scales in eleven Posey County Schools. Lampion Center $3,745 to provide Stewards of Children Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Program in Posey County. Friends of the Alexandrian Public Library $7,420 to fund one laptop storage cart and five Dell laptops to be used in the Laptop Learning Lab. Consolidated School Town of New Harmony and Harmony Township $2,650 to provide partial funding for community service projects. North Elementary PTO $4,993 to purchase one Spiral Slide and woodcarpet for under slide. Koch Family Children's Museum of Evansville $2,381.50 to underwrite the cost of a field trip for third grade students at Posey County schools. Community Emergency Assistance Board $3,500 to offer the Neighbor to Neighbor classes in the Fall of 2010. Town of Cynthiana $2,019 for the cost of hauling dirt to fill the hole left from the demolition of the property at 10677 Main Street, Cynthiana, Indiana. |
