When our donors give unrestricted gifts, they allow the Foundation's trustees to determine how their gifts can best serve the community from year to year as needs and programs change. The earnings from these gifts are distributed through our Discretionary Grants Program. This program allowed us to award more than $80,000 during our most recent grant cycle:

$6,495 to build a handicapped-accessible entryway

Mt. Vernon Police Department
$11,000 to purchase a narcotics dog and train its handler

Mt. Vernon/Black Township Parks and Recreation Department
$3,800 to purchase playground equipment for Brittlebank Park

MTV Girls Softball Association
$1,290 to purchase a softball pitching machine

$8,694 to provide match money for van replacement
